After Gammelnok's village was destroyed and his whole family killed, he reaches and lives with a Saamii tribe for many years before stumbling into Santa's grotto. Here he helps Rudolf the reindeer to fly and after many years of delivering presents around the world asks to be dropped over his chosen garden pond in England. 

The sleigh gets blown of course and Gammelnok ends up in a Dutch Christmas cave, Always trying to get to England, he eventually gets a lift in a boat across the English Channel, only to be shipwrecked.
